These terms cover your purchase and use of Auvio, a macOS application that transcribes, translates and voices recordings entirely on your own machine.
Your licence
Auvio is sold as a one-time purchase of $49. That payment grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Auvio on Macs you own or control, under the terms Apple applies to Mac App Store purchases.
It is not a subscription. Nothing expires, and there is nothing to cancel. Updates to the version you bought are included.
What you may not do
- redistribute, resell, rent or sublicense Auvio
- reverse engineer it except where law expressly permits
- remove or alter any provenance watermark embedded in generated audio
- use it to impersonate a real person, or to produce audio that misrepresents who is speaking
Your content is yours
You keep every right in the media you import and everything Auvio produces from it. We claim no licence over your files, your transcripts, your translations or your exports — we never receive them.
You are responsible for having the right to use the media you import, and for how you use what Auvio generates from it.
Generated speech
Auvio produces synthetic speech from a library of voices. It is not voice cloning: it does not reproduce a specific person’s voice and needs no sample of one. Generated audio may carry an inaudible provenance watermark identifying it as synthetic. Do not attempt to strip it.
Machine translation and speech synthesis are imperfect. Review output before publishing it, particularly where accuracy carries legal, medical or financial weight.
Requirements
Auvio requires macOS 13 or later on Apple Silicon. Speech and translation models are downloaded separately and need significant disk space and memory. We cannot guarantee performance on any particular machine.
Refunds
Purchases made through the Mac App Store are refunded by Apple under Apple’s policy. Request one through reportaproblem.apple.com.
No warranty
Auvio is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error free, or that any transcript, translation or generated track will be accurate or fit for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from Auvio is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits or lost data. Keep your own backups of source media — Auvio never copies your files, so it is not a backup.
Third-party components
Auvio includes open-source components, among them FFmpeg under the LGPL. Their licences are included with the application and govern those components.
Changes
These terms may change; the date above records when. Continuing to use Auvio after a change means accepting it.
